Jasmin B. Frelih (b. 1986) is a Slovenian novelist, essayist, and translator whose work explores the intersections of art, technology, and humanity in a world in flux. In 2016, his debut novel Na/pol (In/Half) received the European Union Prize for Literature and was later longlisted for the International Dublin Literary Award.
A graduate of history and comparative literature from the University of Ljubljana, his writing is informed by a "Third Culture" perspective, synthesizing disparate concepts to find new patterns of meaning in global traditions. His work is driven by a core belief in humanity's potential to build a more nurturing world, and engages in storytelling that cherishes difficult questions over easy answers, finding beauty and hope in complexity.
His work has been translated into numerous languages, including English, Italian, Polish, and Dutch. He was the 2018 winner of the Rožanc Award, Slovenia's highest prize for essay writing, for his collection Bleda svoboda (Pale Freedom).
